City of Olympia Rental Inspections

For Safe and Healthy Housing

City of Olympia Rental Registry Program

The City of Olympia’s Rental Registry Program is designed to proactively identify property conditions before they become major issues—supporting healthier living environments, improved housing stability, and long-term preservation of the community’s rental stock. Similar programs are already in place across Washington, including in Burien, Kent, Lakewood, Seattle, Tacoma, and Tukwila.

Program Goals

  • Ensuring basic health and safety for tenants

  • Preserving existing housing quality

  • Supporting landlords through information and resources

  • Gathering data to better understand housing needs and trends

What Is Required?

Owners of long-term rental properties within Olympia city limits must:

  • Hold a valid business license through the Department of Revenue (effective March 1, 2024)

  • Register annually with the City of Olympia (effective March 1, 2024)

  • Complete a rental inspection by a City-approved third-party inspector every five years

That’s Where I Come In

My name is Ethan Saraceno-Oliveri, owner of Vet Inspections, based in Rainier, WA. I am officially approved by the City of Olympia to perform Rental Registry inspections.

As a local professional and Thurston County resident, I can help you meet the City’s inspection requirement quickly, efficiently, and in full compliance with the program.

Inspection pricing begins at $349, and the online scheduler on this page will automatically calculate your property’s exact cost.

Optional Upgrade: Full Home Inspection

You may choose to add a full home inspection for a more complete evaluation of your rental property. For a small additional fee, you’ll receive a comprehensive report detailing the property’s overall condition.

  • Only the required inspection items will be submitted to the City of Olympia

  • You will receive a full, separate inspection report for your records
